 The US Secretary of State has arrived  
 in Israel for more talks on the US     
 Middle East peace plan.                
                                        
 Mr George Shultz will have talks with  
 prime minister Mr Yitzhak Shames and   
 foreign minister Mr Shimon Pekes       
 tomorrow.                              
                                        
 However, a BBC correspondent says      
 neither side is holding out much hope  
 for an Israeli/Arab peace settlement.  
                                        
  Israeli defence minister Mr Yitzhak  
 Rabin has said the Israeli army has    
 gone on the offensive to end protests  
 in the occupied territories.
