 Officials in Washington say the US is  
 still considering several options aimed
 at removing General Noriega of Panama  
 from power.                            
                                        
 They confirmed that one idea that was  
 considered - and rejected - was the    
 possibility of kidnapping General      
 Noriega and putting him on trial in the
 US on drugs charges.                   
                                        
 The officials stressed no decision had 
 been reached, apart from the sending of
 1,300 troops to Panama to strengthen
