 Police have praised members of the     
 public who rescued two officers from a 
 battering bz a group of youths.        
                                        
 The constables were attacked last night
 after stopping a car in the village of 
 East Bedlington in Northumbeuland.     
                                        
 Police said the attack was carried out 
 bz seven or eight people in the car,   
 but the two constables escaped with    
 cuts and bruises after passers-bz
