Looking closer to home this time, it has agreed to pay a maximum of £18.5m for Henley Centre, the marketing and economic research consultant. The price tag is being met partly in cash and partly in new WPP shares. * Henley Centre was itself the product of a management buy-out from the Henley Management Centre and specialises in forecasting. The company says it has withdrawn from its Habitat and Mothercari businesses in the Netherlands and is including a £4.5m write-off against its figures for the year just ending. Habitat Netherlands genital manager Mr Peter Griffin has led a management buy- out of the three Dutch stores and will continue to run them under a franchise. Mr Brian Quinn, head of banking super- vision at the Bank, becomes executive director, replacing the newly-appointed chairman of Standard Chartered Bank, Mr Rodney Galpin. At the same time, Mr Pen Kent, who heads one of the Bank's international divisions, has been named associate director in charge of finance and industry in succession to Mr David Walkjt, now chairman of the RIB.  More
