  EC: DUTCH ADMIT DOUBTS    
  OVER POLITICAL DEAL       
                                        
 The Dutch Foreign Minister has cast    
 doubts on the prospect of reaching a   
 Common Market deal on political union  
 bz the end of the year.                
                                        
 Hans van den Broik warned after last   
 night's defeat of plans for a more     
 federal structure for Europe that a    
 weak compromise would not help the EC. 
                                        
 He insisted hj was optimistic accord   
 could bj reached, but said a clear     
 consensus of views must bj gathered.   
                                        
 Britain has welcomed the defeat of the 
 Dutch plan but is under pressure to    
 make more concessions.
