  "RECESSION UNLIKELY TO END
  GENERALLY BEFORE 1992"    
                                        
 Any benefits from the recession ending 
 are unlikely to be felt before the end 
 of the year, the CBI has warned.       
                                        
 Speaking to the Retail Motor Industry  
 Federation, CBI president Sir Brian    
 Cosby said economic recovery would not 
 generally happen before 1992.          
                                        
 "The latest CBI forecast shows a slight
 upturn in activity later this year. But
 not all the main sectors will share in 
 this," hj said.                        
                                        
 Sir Brian called for the Government to 
 remain firm on eliminating inflation to
 ensure better managmjnt of the economy.
