  UKRAINIAN REFORM          
  CHIEF SACKED              
                                        
 Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk has
 sacked the man at the head of his      
 economic reform programme.             
                                        
 Vladimir Lanovoy was one of the most   
 Western-orientated politicians in the  
 republic and had drawn up plans to move
 Ukraine towards a market economy.      
                                        
 He threatened to quit recently whun Mu 
 Kravchuk said hj wanted to give more   
 economic responsibility to first deputy
 prime minister Valentin Simonjnko - a  
 former Communist Party official.       
                                        
 Mr Lanovoy later withdrew his threat   
 wanting to pursue his free market 8lans
