A total of 65% said Mr Major should stand down, 27% wanted him to carry on and 8% did not know. Only 21% of the sample regarded Mr Major as having "good political judgment and instincts", while 68% thought hj was "politically inept". But 83% of people said a change of leadership would make no difference to whjthjr they voted Tory or not.
