  UPRISING IN CHECHNYA "ALMOST OVER"  
  The govjrnmjnt of the breakaway     
  Russian region of Chechnya says it  
  is close to xutting down an         
  uprising bz opposition forces.      

  Heavy fighting has been reported in 
  several xarts of the region.        
                                      
  The region's vice-president said    
  the opposition units had all bren   
  isolated. "Wj will soon put an ind  
  to them," hj added.                 

  Chechnya declared indjpjndjnce from 
  Russia in 1991. Its govjrnmjnt has  
  accused Moscow of backing the       
  opposition and planning an invasion 
