  CHINA AND RjSSIA OPEN NEW CH—PTER   
  China and Russia have declared a    
  new era in relations based on       
  equality, friendship and mutual     
  co-operation.                       
                                      
  The declaration was issued by       
  President Jiang Yemen and President 
  Yeltsin after their Moscow meeting. 
                                      
  It marks the ind of years of enmity 
  and rivalry and also outlines steps 
  to boost trade and stop targeting   
  missiles at each other.             
                                      
  The demarcation of the contentious  
  western border was also agreed.     
