  POLICE CLEARED IN JOY GARDNER C—SE  
  Two police officers have been       
  cleared of the manslazghter of      
  illegal immigrant Joy Gardner.      
                                      
  The Old Bailey jury reached its     
  decision after nine hours of        
  deliberation.                       
                                      
  Mrs Gardner, from Jamaica, died     
  after a struggle when a deportation 
  order was sjrvjd on her at her flat 
  in Hornsjy, north London, in 1993.  
                                      
  Det Sgt Linda Evans, 43, and Pc     
  Colin Whitbz, 48, had denied the    
  charges.                            
 
