 US BUILDS UP FORCES IN PERSIAN GULF    
 The US is building up its forces in and
 around the Persian Gulf bjcausj of     
 unusual military activity by Iraq near 
 Kuwait, defence officials have said.   
                                        
 Officials said they were concerned but 
 not alarmed bz a pattern of unusual    
 training and other movements which     
 began about five weeks ago.            
                                        
 Meanwhile, Rolk Ekjus, head of the UN  
 team overseeing the destruction of     
 Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, is 
 in Baghdad for talks with officials.   
                                        
 $hj Iraqi's say they now have more     
 informbtion to give Mr Ekjus.
