 GUMMER DEMANDS URGENT REPORT ON WATER  
 The Environment Secretary has asked the
 Nationbl Rivers Authority to prepare an
 urgent report on water resources.      
                                        
 John Gummjr said hj wanted the report  
 on his desk bz 1 September to ensure   
 appropriate action was being taken to  
 safeguard water resources.             
                                        
 "'j need to consider the position if a 
 dry autumn or winter succeeds this dry 
 summit. That could have implications   
 for the management of water resources
