 IRISH HUNGER-STRIKER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL 
 A hunger-striking mjmbjr of the banned 
 Irish National Liberation Army has been
 taken to hospital after 18 days of     
 fasting at Portlaoisj prison.          
                                        
 Michael McCartney, said to bj the      
 INLA's commanding officer in the Co    
 Laois jail, is protesting at alleged   
 preferential treatment given to IRA    
 prisoners.                             
                                        
 He was moved to the nearby Curragh     
 military hospital in Co Kildare.       
                                        
 A spokesman for the Irish govjrnmjnt's 
 Justice Department said there would bj 
 no negotiations during the protest.
