 LANG APPROVES TBKEOVER OF POWER COMPANY
 The £1.8 billion takjovjr of the       
 regional power company Norweb by North 
 West Wbter has been approved by the    
 President of the Board of Trade.       
                                        
 Ian Lang's decision came despite the   
 advice of the Office of Fair Trading   
 which wanted the mjrgjr to bj examined 
 by the Monopolies Commission.          
                                        
 The mjrgjr will bj the first between a 
 regional electricity and water company.
                                        
 However, Mr Lang has insisted that the 
 two companies should remain separate   
 financial entities.
