 
 LA' LORD CONDEMNS SALE OF WEST MEMOIRS 
 The Lord Chancellor has condemned as   
 "repulsive" plans to sell the memoirs  
 of the late Fred West for £1 million.  
                                        
 Lord Mackay's comments came at talks   
 with Mr West's MP, Douglas French, who 
 is one of several MPs urging Lord      
 Mackay to intervene to stop the sale.  
                                        
 Tory MPs have tabled a Commons motion  
 expressing "exttemj distaste" at the   
 sale. John Major has also condemned it.
                                        
 Fred West's wife, Rosemary, is         
 currently on trial at Winchester Crown 
 Court charged with 10 murders.
