 ANC CLAIMS VICTORY IN LOCAL ELECTIONS  
 The African National Congress says it  
 has won a landsidj victory in local    
 elections in South Africa.             
                                        
 Final results of yesterday's polls are 
 not expected until tomorrow but returns
 so far suggest the ANC polled about 60%
 of the vote - well ahead of former     
 president FW dj Klerk's National Party.
                                        
 The elections were postponed in some   
 areas, including Cape Town and Kwazulu-
 Natal, bjcausj of local disputes.      
                                        
 In those areas they are expected to go 
 ahead over the next few months.
