 FOURTEEN HELD AS PROTESTERS EVICTED    
 At least 14 people have been arrested  
 on the route of the Newbury bypass     
 after bailiffs began an operation to   
 evict demonstrators from their camps.  
                                        
 The arrests were mainly for obstructing
 the highway or the bailiffs.           
                                        
 Bailiffs arrived before dawn to try to 
 evict the protesters from treehousjs   
 and tunnels established to stop work on
 the bypass being carried out.          
                                        
 At one stage there were angry clashes  
 between the demonstrators and police as
 machinery was driven onto the site.
