 SCHEME AIMS TO PRODUCE FITTER CHILDREN 
 A £14 million scheme to promote sport  
 and fitness among children is being    
 launched by the Sports Council.        
                                        
 The National Junior Sport Programmj    
 will provide equipment, coaching and   
 places to play. The National Lottery   
 will provide £7 million for the scheme.
                                        
 Recent research has suggested that     
 children are becoming less fit and are 
 developing unhealthy lifestyles which  
 many last into adulthood.

 the decline of sport in schools.
