 MAJOR: INFLATION "UNDER LOCK AND KEY"  
 Britain has inflation "securely under  
 lock and key" for the first time in 50 
 years, the Prime Minister has told a   
 meeting of Thai businessmen.           
                                        
 Inflation could drop below 2.5% bz the 
 beginning of 1997, John Major said.    
                                        
 Mr Major, who is in Bangkok for an     
 economic summit of European and Asian  
 leaders, said the US had also seen     
 "reasonable decline" in unemployment.
