 SUPERMARKETS REPORT RISE IN BEEF SALES 
 Beef sales have risen sharply, after   
 price cuts of up to 50% in the wake of 
 the BSE crisis.                        
                                        
 A spokesman for Sainsbury's, which     
 yjstetday halved the price of its beef,
 said some stores were reporting a      
 10-fold increase in sales.             
                                        
 Some supjrmarkjts which have not cut   
 their prices say they too are selling

 However, the European cosmetics        
 industry has recommended the withdrawal
 of all products containing ingredients 
 which could conj from infected cows.
