 PM OUTLINES PLANS TO HELP THE ELDERLY  
 John Major has confirmed Govjrnmjnt    
 plans to help elderly people pay for   
 nursing care without risking their     
 savings or homes.                      
                                        
 Addressing the Consjrvativj Central    
 Council in Harrogate, Mr Major said    
 thjte would bj help for families who   
 support their relatives at home.       
                                        
 "If people take out insurance to pay   
 for their care, the state will reward  
 their contribution," Mr Major said.    
                                        
 He added that the plans "would bj      
 fresh" and would reward prudence.
