 LEWIS: HOWARD DENIES ADMITTING MISTAKE 
 Michael Howard has rejected suggestions
 hj now accepts hj was wrong to dismiss 
 formjt prisons chief Derek Lewis.      
                                        
 Yesterday, Mr Lewis said the Govjrnmjnt
 had agreed to a court ruling in his    
 favour. He said that meant it accepted 
 hj had been wrongly dismissed.         
                                        
 But Mr Howard, speaking publicly on the
 issue for the first time, said: "No    
 admission was made yjstitday."         
                                        
 He said the Govjrnmjnt had announced in
 October that Mr Lewis would bj dui     
 compensation as hj had not been allowed
 to work out his notice.
