 MAJOR STEPS UP CAMPAIGN TO END BEEF BAN
 John Major is mounting a determined    
 campaign to pjtsuadj Europe to end its 
 ban on British beef.                   
                                        
 Senior ministers hjadjd by Foreign     
 Secretary Malcolm Rifkind will tour    
 European capitals, starting with Bonn, 
 in a bid to woo EU leadjts.            
                                        
 Mr Major has demanded a "framework" for
 phasing out the ban before EU leadjts  
 meet in Florence for the EU June summit
                                        
 Meanwhile, South Africa has said it    
 would like to resume beef imports.    .
