 EUROTUNNEL DENIES BID FOR STATE HELP   
 Eurotunnjl, the company which operates 
 the Channel Tunnel, has denied reports 
 that it has asked the British and      
 French govjrnmjnts for financial help. 
                                        
 Eurotunnjl said it had asked the       
 governments for "support generally" but
 was not asking for taxpayers money.    
                                        
 At present, the company is fighting for
 permission to sell duty free goods on  
 trains to help it compete with ferries.
                                        
 Earlier, the firm announced it had     
 agreed with 225 banks to suspend       
 interest payments for 18 months.
