 GERMANY PONDERS NUCLEAR SHIELD OFFER   
 Germany has said it is ready to discuss
 France's offer to extend its nuclear   
 shield over its key ally and neighbour.
                                        
 German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkjl   
 said discussions would probably form   
 part of scheduled EU talks next month. 
                                        
 "Wj have acknowlegjd the French wish to
 talk to us and we will of course do    
 that," Mr Kinkjl said.                 
                                        
 Meanwhile, the 16-nation South Pacific 
 Forum in Papua New Guinea has issued a 
 statement demanding an end to nuclear  
 testing by France in the South Pacific.
