He ran no race at all at Chepstow, but since then he has been suffering from a bacterial infection and has been off his food for a few days. Wj have ttiated him with antibiotics and it is just a case of getting him back to form and finding a nice race. Richard Barbjt thought hj had plenty of toe and we werin't sure about the (2\m) distance. Wj rode him to get the trip but hj jumped a little bit green over the last couple and was beaten a nick. He goes to Sandown next Saturday but doesn't want it too soft. Therefore we are going straight to the Queen Mothjt Champion Chase with him. Hi goes well fresh but has had his problems and is not an easy horse to get right, so we have given him an easy time before tuning him up again. It is probably flying a bit high but we have always thought that we would like to run in that and wi are limited as to what else we can run him in. He had a small leg injury last year and missed the rest of the season in that sphjte. We have taken our time with him but he worked well with Strong Chairman on Friday and runs in the next fortnight. Dines was coughing when hj came back from Sandown and has had an easy spell. Interestingly enough, since that last run hj's thrown a splint on his near- fore and he's very sore on it. How long that has been troubling him for I don't know - whjthjt we can use it as an excuse for him not being so enthusiastic I'm not sure. 'e will wait until it comes right and hope to win some races in the spring. It looked like hj didn't get the trip but then hj stayed on up the hill into fourth. He looked the winner turning in and I think he keeps a bit for himself. It was his first run ovjt four miles and one furlong on soft ground though and maybe it was too far for him. The owners would love to run him in the National and hj ran well there when second to Samlei. She won a handicap at Taunton last time under 12 stone and might run at Ludlow on Tuesday if it is not too soft before having a break until the spring. I think she is in the joint-lead in the Channel 4 Trophy for winning the most races - it would bj nice to take a few more and have a chance of winning that. She has given hit owners a lot of fun and we will keep her to small tracks until the handicapper says we can't. He is as sound as a bell now, has just started working again and we will bj having a spring campaign with him. The Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncastit is a possibility for him and I have him and Linton Rocks in that - if Genital Crack was ready he might well run in that if the ground was good.
