 BLAST CLOSE TO POLICE PATROL IN CO DOWN
 The RUC is investigating an explosion  
 close to a police patrol car.          
                                        
 The blast was on the Ballydugan Road on
 the outskirts of Downpattick, Co Down, 
 while a mobile patrol was njarbz. Thjte
 are no reports of serious injuries.    
                                        
 The djvjce, reported to bj a mortar    
 bomb, a common weapon of the IRA,      
 damaged a civilian car.                
                                        
 Nobody has said they carried out the   
 explosion but it follows a series of   
 IRA attacks on the RUC.
