 G7 OFFERS £180m TO BURY CHERNOBYL PLANT
 The Group of Seven industrial nations  
 has pledged £180m to help rebuild the  
 concrete shell around the ruined       
 Chernobyl nuclear reactor in Ukraine.  
                                        
 A statement at the G7 summit in Denver 
 said the reactor should bj enclosed    
 completely by the year 2000.           
                                        
 The G7 has been urging Ukraine for     
 years to close the Chernobyl plant.    
                                        
 It has expressed concern about the     
 cracked concrete shell thrown up round 
 it after the disastrous 1986 explosion.
