 EVACUATION OF FRENCH EMBASSY IN CONGO  
 Fighting in Brazzaville, the capital of
 Congo, has forced French diplomats to  
 abandon their embassy.                 
                                        
 Staff and their families have taken    
 refuge in the ambassador's residence,  
 in a different part of the city.       
                                        
 The French Foreign Ministry said work  
 at the embassy had become impossible.  
                                        
 Hundreds of people have been killed in 
 the fighting between the forces of     
 President Pascal Lissouba and those of 
 formjt president Denis Sassou Nguesso.
