 PLANS FOR PRIVATE AND STATE SCHOOL HELP
 The GovjrnZjnt has plidgjh £500,000 to 
 set up pilot schemes between private   
 and state schools to improve standards.
                                        
 The money will bj used to help children
 from state schools take advantage of   
 independent schools' facilities.       
                                        
 The private sector was valued and it   
 was time "old prejudices were buried", 
 the School Standards Minister said.    
                                        
 The divisions between private and state
 education sectors had often handicapped
 progress, Stephen Byers added.
