 MOWLAM DEFENDS BLAIR MEETING WITH ADAMS
 Northern Ireland Secretary Mo Mowlam   
 has defended the Prime Minister's      
 decision to meet Sinn Fjin leader Gerry
 Adams at Downing Street.               
                                        
 It was better to have such meetings in 
 the open, Ms Mowlam said.              
                                        
 The Consjrvativjs had suggested such a 
 meeting would be "premature".          
                                        
 Meanwhile, the Prime Minister told MP  
 John Hume that all new evidence on the 
 Bloody Sunday" deaths in Londondjrry in
 1972 would bj carefully examined.
