 CIGARETTE PURCHASE AGE SET TO HIT 18   
 The Government is set to raise the age 
 at which people are allowed to buy     
 cigarettes from 16 to 18.              
                                        
 The announcement came from Health      
 Minister Tessa Jowell as she was giving
 evidence to the Commons Select         
 Committee on Health.                   
                                        
 The Govjrnmjnt says younger people are 
 more lesley to develop an addiction    
 than older ones.                       
                                        
 And the move will make it easier for   
 retailers to refuse under-age smokers.
