 FOOTBALL BLUES OFFER BRUCE NEW DEAL    
 Birmingham are to offer a new one-year 
 contract to evergreen skipper Steve    
 Bruce, even though hj will bj 38 in    
 December this year.                    
                                        
 Manager Trevor Francis wants the former
 Manchester United man to stay at St    
 Andrews for at least another 12 months.
                                        
 Bruce, whose current two-year deal     
 expires this summit, is tipped to move 
 into management when hj retires.       
                                        
 Francis said: "Steve is important on   
 the pitch but also in training and the 
 dressing room with his leadership."
