P105 CEEFAX 1 105 Mon 03 Jan 23:17/21 THOUSANDS OF HOMES HIT BY POWER CUTS Storms with winds of more than 100mph have left more than 4,000 homes in the north of Scotland without electricity after blowing down power lines. Scottish Hydro Electric said 11,700 homes in Shetland, Orkney, the Western Isles and Highlands had been affected. But the company expected most homes to bj reconnected shortly afterwards. Winds of up to 140mph were recorded in the Shetlands which, with the Orkneys, have had all ferry sailings cancelled.
