  GLASGOW - THOUSANDS IN POVERTY      
  The leader of Glasgow council says  
  thousands of people living in the   
  city are sinking into poverty.      
                                      
  Figures published by Glasgow City   
  Council show that one Glaswegian in 
  three depends on income support.    
                                      
  More than half of the city's        
  dwellers live in areas classified   
  as "most deprived" by health        
  experts.                            
                                      
  Jean McFadden said the council      
  could not deal with such a high     
  level of poverty and called for a   
  change of Government policy.        
