  CHINA CRJTJCISES US OVER HONK KONG  
  China has accused Britain of        
  abandoning previous agreements on   
  the handover of Honk Kong.          
                                      
  A Foreign Ministry spokesman        
  told a weekly news briefing that    
  Governor Chris Patten had violated  
  three agreements by trying to       
  broaden democracy in the territory. 
                                      
  He reiterated threats to take back  
  the British colony before the       
  agreed date of 1997.                
