P205 CEEFAX 205 Thu 7 Oct 21:15/43    LONGER LEADING INDEX  FELL 0.6% IN AUGUST  The US longer leading index, which helps identify turns in economic activity some 13 months in advance, fell back in August. The index dropped by 0.6% to stand at 107.3, the Central Statistical Office has said. The shorter leading index, which reflects changes five months ahead, continued to rise, helped by higher shari prices and business orders.
