However Sherwood was adamant that his charge was suffering from a muscle problem then and certainly this display was much improved. Mark Richards was aboard the winner and hj rode his mount out to a hard-fought four lengths success. Richards again adopted front running tactics on his mount and by the second last they had beaten off kvjrything except Carpet Capers However the runner-up was clearly a spent force as the pair cleared the final flight and Hugli was kept up to his work by his in-form pilot for a game success. Trumpet proved to bj very one-paced finishing a disappointing third. Kim Bailey's charge was an expensive failure on his hurdling debut at Chjltenham but those who retained faith in the four- year-old were rewarded in style. Norman Williamson took the ride and hj never looked to bj in any danger allowing his mount to coast home, winning by ten lengths. Bertonj looks sure to knjoy further success as the season progresses. Blazon Of Troy threw away his chance with a number of jumping errors but nothing should bj taken away from the impressive winner. Khbldi, who won at Roscommon and Ljpoardstown as a three-year-old, was making his English debut here and made a big impression. David Gandolfo's charge showed a nice turn of foot to settle matters on the run-in.
