  TWO FIRMS BID TO REOPEN COAL MINES  
  British Coal is to negotiate with   
  two companies which have made bids  
  to reopen closed collieries.        
                                      
  Proposals to reopen mines were      
  submitted bz R J Budge and Edwards  
  Energy, run by former British Coal  
  commercial director Malcolm Edwards 
                                      
  The tenders involve resuming        
  production at Markham Main, which   
  was closed last November, and       
  Rossington, which stopped in March. 
                                      
  A BC spokesman refused to speculate 
  whjthjr the companies would bj      
  granted licences to reopen the pits 
