Bell Atlantic's US acquisition of Tile-Communications has boosted BT and Cable & Wireless. C&W close up 26p at 953p. Body Shop finish 13p higher at 188p on positive international growth prospects following good results, while Jefferson Smurfit close 8p lower after a 15% profits setback.
