  BAR WBRNS OF GROWING HOLE IN OZONE  
  The ozone layer over the Antarctic  
  is steadily deteriorating, the      
  British Antarctic Survey said.      
                                      
  Many countries agreed, under the    
  Montreal Protocol, to phase out the 
  use of CFCs by the year 2000.       
                                      
  But the ozone-depleting chemical    
  has not yet reached its maximum     
  levels and will not do so until the 
  year 2000, BAR warned.              
                                      
  Meanwhile, environmental groups     
  have called for nations to phase    
  out the use of CFCs more quickly.   
