P206 CEEFAX 206 Thu 21 Oct 21:14/48 DEFICIT IN NON-EC TRADE PASSES £1bn The deficit in Britain's trade with non-IC countries widened sharply in September. Provisional figures give a deficit of some £1,090m, up from an August figure revised to £729m from £570m. Market expectations had centred on a deficit of only around £650m. Exports fell 0.7% to £4,837m, while imports rose 5.9% to £5,927m. Excluding oil and erratics, the US trade deficit showed a deficit of £662m, up from £541m in August.
