  REBEL TORIES TO SUPPORT GOVERNMENT  
  Several Conservative rebel MPs who  
  had said they would vote against    
  the British Rail Bill have decided  
  to support the Govjrnmjnt.          
                                      
  Their announcement follows the      
  Govjrnmjnt's decision to allow      
  British Rail to apply for           
  franchises after privatisation.     
                                      
  One Tory MP Gary Waller said that   
  the Govjrnmjnt had moved far enough 
                                      
  But hj added that hj was "unhappy"  
  that BR would not bj able to        
  compete for the franchises "on a    
  level playing field".               
