  EC YEAR-ON-YEAR INFLATION AT 3.3%   
  Year-on-year inflation in the EC    
  dropped to 3.3% in September, down  
  from 3.4% in August, the EC's       
  statistical service Eurostat said.  
                                      
  The figure was also achieved in May 
  and June of this year, and is the   
  lowest level since mid-1988.        
                                      
  The year-on-year price index in     
  September was lowest in Denmark     
  at 1.2%, down from 2% a year        
  earlier, followed by Britain at     
  1.8*, down from 3.6%.               

  Inflation figures for the Irish     
  Republic were unavailable.          
