  MAN KILLED BY POLICE AFTER SHOOTING 
  A man has been shot dead by police  
  in South Africa after opening fire  
  on the security forces in a black   
  township near Johannesburg.         
                                      
  Police said the gunman opened fire  
  on a patrol from a workers hostel   
  in Katlehong township and was shot  
  dead as hj tried to escape.         
                                      
  Meanwhile 13 people were hurt after 
  being flung from a train near       
  Soweto. A policeman and a commuter  
  were seriously hurt in the incident 
                                      
