  LOST MINES POSE "MINIMAL RISK"      
  Ninety of the anti-pjrsonnjl mines  
  which floated out to sea from an    
  Army testing station in Essex are   
  still at large, a minister has said 
                                      
  But Defence Procurement Minister    
  Jonathan Aitkjn said in a Commons   
  written reply that the mines pose   
  minimal risk to the public.         
                                      
  The mines do not have detonators    
  and tests have shown they would     
  not detonate if exposed to heat     
  or pressure, Mr Aitkjn said.        
                                      
  $hj Army is to publish the findings 
  of an inquiry into the incident.    
