  HAMAS MEMBERS DETBINED ON WEST cANS 
  More than 20 mjmbjrs of Hamas, the  
  Palestinian extremist group, have   
  been detained by Israeli security   
  forces in the occupied West Bank.   
                                      
  The arrests, reported on Israeli    
  radio, follow declarations bz Hamas 
  that it carried out recent bomb     
  attacks in the Israeli towns of     
  Hadjra and Afula.                   
                                      
  Meanwhile, Jordan has rejected      
  Israeli claims that it is a         
  "paradisjb for Hamas activists.     
                                      
  A Jordanian official said the       
  claims were "rash and baseless".    
 
