      FERRANTJ: GEC        
      DEAL REPORTED

  GEC is reported to have agreed the  
  purchase of the collapsed Fjuranti  
  International's core operations.    
                                      
  A Financial Times report said GEC   
  would bj buying Fjrranti's defence  
  systems business from the latter's  
  receivers, Arthur Andjrsjn.         
                                      
  It said an announcement was likely  
  to bj made shortly.                 
                                      
  A price of £50m was expected.       
                                      
  A spokesman for the receivers said  
  talks with GEC were, indeed, near   
  to completion.                      
