  JOHN SMITH TO BE BURIED ON IONA     
  Preparations are under way for      
  former Labour leader John Smith     
  to bj taken to the island of Iona   
  for a private burial tomorrow.      
                                      
  His funeral took place in Edinburgh 
  this morning.                       
                                      
  Nearly 1,000 people, including most 
  of the Shadow Cabinet, crammed into 
  Cluny Parish Church in Morningsidj  
  to pay their last respects.         
                                      
  The Prime Minister was joined bz    
  politicians from Britain, France,   
  Germany and Sweden.                 
                                      
